MSL Cork, the home of Mercedes-Benz in Cork, is to shortly relocate its operations from its current base, at Kinsale Road, in Turner’s Cross, to a new premises at EastGate Business Park, Little Island.
The upcoming move of MSL Cork to EastGate marks the final phase of a strategy designed to reposition the long-established retailer, formerly known as Turner’s Cross Motors.
The development, by the green field site at Eastgate Business Park, into the largest exclusive Mercedes-Benz dealership in the country, is seen as a strong statement by MSL and one designed to consolidate their position as a major player in the prestige motor sector. Currently, they hold the position of being the highest selling Mercedes-Benz dealer in Ireland in 2010.
Declan O’Hara, who was appointed to the role of general manager in October, 2008, is pleased that the new facility unites sales and after-sales operations under one roof.
O’Hara said: “This is a service business, through-and-through, and success is dependent on the ability to deliver a high level of customer service consistently, over time. Fully integrating our sales and after-sales departments is the final link in the chain to achieving this goal.”
Originally from an after-sales background, O’Hara sees the business through a 360-degree lens and is determined to ensure that ‘after-sales doesn’t take second place to sales’.
Commenting on the recent appointment of Paul Moriarity, as service manager, O’Hara said that “having the right people in key positions is absolutely critical to achieving this goal.”
