Motor sector welcomes clamping proposals

Friday, August 27, 2010

The motor sector is welcoming Fine Gael's proposals to regulate the clamping industry.

The party has drafted legislation that would see a cap on clamping fees and a time limit in which they must be removed.

It says the industry is out of control with no limit to clamping fees on off-street or private property parking.

Spokesperson for the Irish Parking Association, Keith Gavin welcomed the proposals, and said: "We would feel it's important that there is some regulation...brought to the area of off-street parking enforcement."
