Upgraded Mazda2

Friday, September 03, 2010

Mazda is another company lining up for a busy time at the Paris show.

The company’s lightweight, Mazda2 — World Car of the Year in 2008 — has received a facelift and celebrates its European premiere at Paris, with a number of key changes, including a new front end, which features Mazda’s unique family face.

There is also an upgraded interior, upgraded Euro V powertrain line-up, an upgraded chassis for even better ride comfort, while an automatic transmission version is being introduced.

Joining the face-lifted Mazda2 will be the all-new Mazda5, premiering with a new, economical MZ-CD 1.6-diesel engine, which will return 5.2 l/100km and has a power output of 115 bhp, while also having 15% less CO2 emissions, in comparison to the previous 2.0-litre diesel.

The Mazda5 will also feature a new, lightweight, six-gear manual transmission, an eye-catching design that sets it apart in the C-MAV segment, and enhanced, Karakuri interior flexibility for up to seven people, plus sliding rear doors.

Also on show in Paris will be the new Mazda3, with an upgraded, MZ-CD, 1.6-diesel engine. It offers more power and torque, while lowering fuel economy and emissions.

The new version features increased maximum power and torque, and will return 4.4 l/100km and 117g/km CO2, and a new lightweight, six-gear manual transmission.
