Young drivers 'five times more likely to die'

Friday, September 03, 2010

Ireland's young drivers are five times more likely to die on the country's roads than their more experienced counterparts, it has been claimed.

The statistic is contained in a review of crashes released by the Road Safety Authority, which also shows weekends are the deadliest time of the week on the roads.

The research reveals July and October are the months when people are most at risk, and one in three fatal crashes takes place between midnight and 5am.
